Drum sizes; 18in x 14in kick, 12in x 8in and 14in x 14in toms and 14in x 5in snare.
This Remo kit's shells are made from Advanced Acousticon, which is a state-of-the-art material that took four years to develop and took the best qualities of wood and bettered them for “unparalleled pitch, timbre and projection”. The construction is from a continuous roll of Acousticon material wrapped around a mandrill which is impregnated with resin and laminated under pressure and heat (in a process very similar to that used to make snooker balls - not a lot of people know that!).
When Advanced Acousticon was introduced it was claimed in brochures: "it makes a better shell which is denser and more accurate than wood with no mismatched plies thereby giving better focus and articulation." More importantly perhaps, it also behaves like a seamless one-piece shell and produces a sound something between a maple and a birch drum.
